Arm, Lower Control

  1. Place the lower control arm (1) into the front suspension crossmember (3).
  2. Install, but do not fully tighten, the rear bolt (4) attaching the lower control arm to the crossmember and frame rail.
  3. Install, but do not fully tighten, the front bolt (2) attaching the lower control arm to the crossmember.
  4. With no weight on the lower control arm, tighten the lower control arm rear (and suspension crossmember) bolt (4) to 250 N.m (185 ft. lbs.).
  5. With no weight on the lower control arm, tighten the lower control arm front bolt (2) to 170 N.m (125 ft. lbs.).

  6. Install the ball joint stud (3) into the knuckle (1), aligning the bolt hole in the knuckle boss with the notch formed in the side of the ball joint stud.
  7. Install a NEW ball joint stud pinch bolt (4) and nut (2). Tighten the nut to 95 N.m (70 ft. lbs.).

  8. If the right lower control arm is being serviced, install the engine torque strut (2). To properly align and tighten the torque strut, refer to ADJUSTMENTS .

  9. If the right lower control arm is being serviced, install the pencil strut as follows:
    • Install the washer (4) on the end of the stud extending from the torque strut bolt at the crossmember.
    • Position the pencil strut (3) on the right front corner of the crossmember and body of the vehicle and install the mounting nuts (1, 3). Tighten the nuts to 52 N.m (38 ft. lbs.).

  10. If the right lower control arm is being serviced:
    • Position the drive-belt splash shield (3) and install the fasteners (4) securing it to the body (2).
    • Install the fastener (5) securing the drive belt splash shield (3) to the front suspension crossmember (6).
    • If previously removed, install the fasteners securing the front fascia (1) to the body lower reinforcement.

  11. If the right lower control arm is being serviced, Install the one fastener (2) securing the wheel house splash shield (1) to the drive belt splash shield (3).

  12. Rotate the forward ends of the stabilizer bar (5) into mounted position.
  13. Clean the threads of the stabilizer bar link bolts (7), then apply Mopar® Lock And Seal or equivalent to the threads.
  14. On both sides of the vehicle, Install both stabilizer bar link assemblies (3, 4, 6, 7). Start each stabilizer bar link bolt (7) with the lower bushing (6) from the bottom, through the stabilizer bar (5), inner link bushing (4), lower control arm (2), and into the upper retainer/nut and bushing (3). Do not fully tighten the link assemblies at this time.

  15. Install tire and wheel assembly (1). Refer to INSTALLATION . Install and tighten wheel mounting nuts (3) to 135 N.m (100 ft. lbs.).
  16. Lower the vehicle.

    NOTE: It may be necessary to put the vehicle on a platform hoist or alignment rack to gain access to the stabilizer bar mounting bolts with the vehicle at curb height.
  17. With the vehicle at curb height, tighten each stabilizer bar link (3, 4, 6, 7) by holding the upper retainer/nut (3) with a wrench while turning the link bolt (7). Tighten each link bolt to 29 N.m (22 ft. lbs.).
  18. If previously loosened, tighten the stabilizer bar cushion retainer bolts (8) to 25 N.m (18 ft. lbs.).
  19. Perform wheel alignment as necessary. See STANDARD PROCEDURE .
