Generator - 2.4L Turbo

The generator is located above the oil filter and axle shaft.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the 2 bolts from the top of the heat shield on the generator.
- Remove nut from the upper T-bolt adjustment bracket.
1 - ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT SPLASH SHIELD - Raise vehicle and support.
- Remove the right front wheel.
- Remove the accessory drive splash shield.
- Remove the lower heat shield bolt.
- Remove the generator heat shield.
1 - FIELD CONNECTOR 2 - BATTERY CONNECTION - Unplug the field circuit from the generator.
- Remove the B+ terminal nut and wire.
- Loosen the accessory drive belt T-bolt.
1 - NUT 2 - PENCIL STRUT 3 - NUT 4 - FLAT WASHER 5 - LOWER TORQUE STRUT - Remove the pencil strut.
1 - LOWER PIVOT BOLT - Loosen the lower generator pivot bolt.
1 - Axle Shaft 2 - Lower Control Arm 3 - Steering Knuckle - Remove the generator belt. Refer to REMOVAL .
- Remove the axle retaining nut.
- Remove the lower control arm from the steering knuckle.
- Remove the 2 bolts for the axle shaft bearing support.
- Remove the axle shaft assembly. Put a container under the transmission to catch the transmission fluid from the transmission.
- Remove the generator from the lower mounting bracket and set generator to the side.
- Remove the lower mounting bracket for the generator.
- Remove generator through the axle shaft hole.
