The accelerator pedal position (APP) sensor (1) is located on the accelerator pedal assembly. The driver supplies the torque requirements for the engine by operating the accelerator pedal in accordance with the desired speed or acceleration. The pedal sensor converts the physical position of the pedal into an electrical signal and sends the information to the ECM. The ECM uses the APP signal to adjust the quantity of the fuel that is injected into the engine.

The accelerator pedal position sensor is serviced as an assembly with the accelerator pedal assembly.
