Section 82 (Suspension System): Front: Knuckle: Installation: Knuckle

  1. Install the steering knuckle on the lower ball joint stud.
  2. Install the lower ball joint nut. Tighten to 170 N.m (125 ft. lbs.)

  3. Install the lower strut (1) and bolts (2) to the steering knuckle. Tighten the bolts (2) to 140 N.m (103 ft. lbs.) Plus an additional 120° turn.

  4. Install the rotor (3) to the hub/bearing.
  5. Install the rotor set screw (1). Tighten to 22 N.m (16 in. lbs.). Refer to INSTALLATION .

  6. Install the wheel speed sensor (1) and nut (2) to the knuckle (3).

  7. Install the disc brake caliper adapter with the brake caliper assembly (4) and tighten the bolts (1) to 80 N.m (59 ft. lbs.) Plus an additional 40° turn. Refer to INSTALLATION .

  8. Install the outer tie rod end (3) and shield (5) to the steering knuckle (6) and tighten the nut (4) to 50 N.m (37 ft. lbs.) Plus an additional 60° turn.
  9. Install the front wheels. Refer to INSTALLATION .
  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Check and set toe if necessary. See STANDARD PROCEDURE .
