4D34-Steering Angle Sensor-Signal Implausible: Testing

- CHECK FOR A DTC 4D34-STEERING ANGLE SENSOR-SIGNAL IMPLAUSIBLE NOTE: Diagnose and repair any Steering Angle Sensor DTCs in the Steering Column Module, any communication DTCs in the SCM, BCM or PCM and any system under voltage or over voltage DTCs before continuing with this test.NOTE: This DTC must be active for the results of this test to be valid.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
- Record DTC and Freeze Frame information.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Cycle the ignition switch off then on.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display: 4D34-STEERING ANGLE SENSOR-SIGNAL IMPLAUSIBLE?
Yes
- Go to step 2
No
- The condition that caused the symptom is currently not present. Inspect the related wiring for a possible intermittent condition. Look for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires.
- Refer to the ABS-INTERMITTENT CONDITION TEST. See DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Antilock Brake (ABS) - Standard Procedure .
- CHECK THE WIRING HARNESS, TERMINALS, AND CONNECTORS
- Visually inspect the related wiring harness. Look for any bruised, chafed, pierced, or partially broken wires.
- Visually inspect the related wiring harness connectors. Look for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded terminals.
- Monitor the scan tool data relative to this circuit while performing a wiggle test on the wiring. Look for the data to change other than as expected or for the DTC to reset.
- Refer to any Technical Service Bulletins that apply.
Were any problems found?
Yes
- Repair as necessary.
- Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST. See DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Antilock Brake (ABS) - Standard Procedure
No
- Go to step 3
- STEERING ANGLE SENSOR
- Replace the Steering Angle Sensor in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST. See DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Antilock Brake (ABS) - Standard Procedure

Did DTC 4D34-STEERING ANGLE SENSOR-SIGNAL IMPLAUSIBLE reset?
Yes
- Replace the Anti-Lock Brakes Module in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST. See DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Antilock Brake (ABS) - Standard Procedure
No
- Test Complete.
