Diagnostic Test

- ERASE AND ATTEMPT TO RESET DTC
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, erase BCM DTCs.
- Start the engine.
- Operate the rear defogger.
- With the scan tool, read BCM DTCs.
Does the scan tool display 907F-REAR WINDOW HEATER 2 CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW?
Yes
- Go to step 2
No
- The condition that caused this symptom is currently not present. Inspect the related wiring harness for a possible intermittent condition.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. See DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Body Control (BCM) - Standard Procedure .
- CHECK REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER FUSE
- Check rear window defogger fuse.
Is the fuse open?
Yes
- Check for a short to ground in the Fused B+ circuit. Replace the fuse in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. See DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Body Control (BCM) - Standard Procedure .
No
- Go to step 3
- Check rear window defogger fuse.
- INSTALL KNOWN GOOD RELAY
- Turn the ignition off.
- Substitute the original Rear Window Defogger 2 Relay with a known good relay.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, erase BCM DTCs.
- Start the engine.
- Operate the rear defogger.
- With the scan tool, read BCM DTCs.
Does the scan tool display 907F-REAR WINDOW HEATER 2 CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW?
Yes
- Go to step 4
No
- Replace the original Rear Window Defogger 2 Relay in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. See DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Body Control (BCM) - Standard Procedure .
- HEATED REAR WINDOW 2 RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Rear Window Defogger 2 Relay.
- Disconnect the Body Control Module C9 connector.
- Measure the resistance of the Heated Rear Window 2 Relay Control circuit at the Rear Window Defogger 2 Relay connector to ground.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes
- Repair the Heated Rear Window 2 Relay Control circuit for a short to ground.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. See DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Body Control (BCM) - Standard Procedure .
No
- Go to step 5
- HEATED REAR WINDOW 2 RELAY CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN
- Measure the resistance of the Heated Rear Window 2 Relay Control circuit between the BCM connector and the Rear Window Defogger 2 Relay connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes
- Replace the Body Control Module (BCM) in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. See DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Body Control (BCM) - Standard Procedure .
No
- Repair the Heated Rear Window 2 Relay Control circuit for an open.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. See DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Body Control (BCM) - Standard Procedure .
- Measure the resistance of the Heated Rear Window 2 Relay Control circuit between the BCM connector and the Rear Window Defogger 2 Relay connector.
