Diagnostic Test

  1. TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION 
    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. With the scan tool, record and erase DTCs.
    3. Start the engine.
    4. Operate the rear defogger switch several times.
    5. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Does the scan tool display 907B-REAR WINDOW HEATER 1 CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW?

      Yes 

      • Go to step  2

      No 

  2. DEFOGGER RELAY 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Install a known good relay in place of the Rear Window Defogger 1 Relay.
    3. Turn the ignition on.
    4. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    5. Start the engine.
    6. Operate the rear defogger switch several times.
    7. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Does the scan tool display 907B-REAR WINDOW HEATER 1 CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW?

      No 

      Yes 

      • Go to step  3
  3. HEATED REAR WINDOW RELAY 1 CONTROL SHORTED 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the Rear Window Defogger 1 Relay.
    3. Disconnect the Body Control Module C9 connector.
    4. Measure the resistance between ground and the Heated Rear Window Relay 1 Control circuit at the relay.

      Is the resistance below 1000.0 ohms?

      Yes 

      No
