Diagnostic Test

  1. TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION 
    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. With the scan tool, record and erase DTCs.
    3. Start the engine.
    4. Operate the heated windshield switch several times.
    5. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Does the scan tool display 9078-WINDSHIELD HEATER CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW?

      Yes 

      • Go to step  2

      No 

  2. HEATED WINDSHIELD RELAY 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Install a known good relay in place of the Heated Windshield Relay.
    3. Turn the ignition on.
    4. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    5. Start the engine.
    6. Operate the heated windshield switch several times.
    7. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Does the scan tool display 9078-WINDSHIELD HEATER CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW?

      Yes 

      • Go to step  3

      No 

  3. HEATED WINDSHIELD RELAY CONTROL SHORTED 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the Heated Windshield Relay.
    3. Disconnect the Body Control Module C9 connector.
    4. Measure the resistance between ground and the Heated Windshield Relay Control circuit at the relay.

      Is the resistance below 1000.0 ohms?

      Yes 

      No
