Diagnostic Test

- TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, record and erase DTCs.
- Start the engine.
- Operate the heated windshield switch several times.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display 9078-WINDSHIELD HEATER CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW?
Yes
- Go to step 2
No
- The conditions that caused this code to set are not present at this time. Using the SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. See DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Body Control (BCM) - Standard Procedure .
- HEATED WINDSHIELD RELAY
- Turn the ignition off.
- Install a known good relay in place of the Heated Windshield Relay.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Start the engine.
- Operate the heated windshield switch several times.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display 9078-WINDSHIELD HEATER CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW?
Yes
- Go to step 3
No
- Replace the original Heated Windshield Relay in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. See DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Body Control (BCM) - Standard Procedure .
- HEATED WINDSHIELD RELAY CONTROL SHORTED
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Heated Windshield Relay.
- Disconnect the Body Control Module C9 connector.
- Measure the resistance between ground and the Heated Windshield Relay Control circuit at the relay.
Is the resistance below 1000.0 ohms?
Yes
- Repair the Heated Windshield Relay Control circuit for a short to ground.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. See DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Body Control (BCM) - Standard Procedure .
No
- Replace the Body Control Module in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. See DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Body Control (BCM) - Standard Procedure .
