Diagnostic Test

- TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION NOTE: If any other DTCs are present correct those before proceeding with this test.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, record and erase DTCs.
- Operate the Horn Switch several times.
- Cycle the ignition from on to off three times and leave on.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display 9076-HORN CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW?
Yes
- Go to step 2
No
- The conditions that caused this code to set are not present at this time. Using the SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. See DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Body Control (BCM) - Standard Procedure .
- OPEN FUSED B(+) TO RELAY
- Turn the ignition off.
- Remove the Horn Relay from the Fuse and Relay Block.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Using a 12-Volt test light connected to ground, check the Fused B(+) circuit at the relay connector.
Does the test light illuminate?
No
- Repair the open Fused B(+) circuit.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. See DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Body Control (BCM) - Standard Procedure .
Yes
- Go to step 3
- HORN RELAY
- Turn the ignition off.
- Install a known good relay in place of the Horn Relay.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Operate the Horn Switch several times.
- Cycle the ignition from on to off three times and leave on.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Does the scan tool display 9076-HORN CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW?
No
- Replace the original Horn Relay in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. See DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Body Control (BCM) - Standard Procedure .
Yes
- Go to step 4
- HORN RELAY CONTROL OPEN
- Turn the ignition off.
- Measure the resistance of the Horn Relay Control circuit from the relay connector to BCM internal connector.
Is the resistance below 3.0 ohms?
Yes
- Replace the Body Control Module (BCM) in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. See DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Body Control (BCM) - Standard Procedure .
No
- Replace the Fuse and Relay Block in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST. See DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Body Control (BCM) - Standard Procedure .
