Diagnostic Test

  1. TEST FOR INTERMITTENT CONDITION 
    NOTE: If any other DTCs are present correct those before proceeding with this test.
    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. With the scan tool, record and erase DTCs.
    3. Operate the Horn Switch several times.
    4. Cycle the ignition from on to off three times and leave on.
    5. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Does the scan tool display 9076-HORN CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW?

      Yes 

      • Go to step  2

      No 

  2. OPEN FUSED B(+) TO RELAY 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Remove the Horn Relay from the Fuse and Relay Block.
    3. Turn the ignition on.
    4. Using a 12-Volt test light connected to ground, check the Fused B(+) circuit at the relay connector.

      Does the test light illuminate?

      No 

      Yes 

      • Go to step  3
  3. HORN RELAY 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Install a known good relay in place of the Horn Relay.
    3. Turn the ignition on.
    4. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    5. Operate the Horn Switch several times.
    6. Cycle the ignition from on to off three times and leave on.
    7. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Does the scan tool display 9076-HORN CONTROL CIRCUIT LOW?

      No 

      Yes 

      • Go to step  4
  4. HORN RELAY CONTROL OPEN 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Measure the resistance of the Horn Relay Control circuit from the relay connector to BCM internal connector.

      Is the resistance below 3.0 ohms?

      Yes 

      No
