Diagnostic Test

- CHECK ILLUMINATION CIRCUIT
Is there an overall illumination problem with the vehicle?
Yes
- Refer to DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Transmission Control (TCM) - Standard Procedure and perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure.
- Perform NAG1 TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. See DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Transmission Control (TCM) - Standard Procedure
No
- Go to step 2
- CHECK THE TERM 58D ILLUMINATION CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Turn the ignition off to the lock position.
- Disconnect the Shift Lever Assembly harness connector.NOTE: Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.
- Measure the resistance between ground and the Illumination circuit.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes
- Repair the Illumination circuit for a short to ground.
- Perform NAG1 TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. See DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Transmission Control (TCM) - Standard Procedure
No
- Go to step 3
- CHECK THE TERM 58D ILLUMINATION CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect the Instrument Cluster harness connector.
- Check the resistance of the Illumination circuit between the Shift Lever Assembly harness connector and the Instrument Cluster harness connector.
Is resistance above 100k ohms?
Yes
- Repair the Illumination circuit for an open.
- Perform NAG1 TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. See DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Transmission Control (TCM) - Standard Procedure
No
- Replace the Shift Lever Assembly (Illumination Module) in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform NAG1 TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. See DTC-Based Diagnostics/MODULE, Transmission Control (TCM) - Standard Procedure
