Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK ILLUMINATION CIRCUIT 

    Is there an overall illumination problem with the vehicle?

    Yes 

    No 

    • Go to step  2
  2. CHECK THE TERM 58D ILLUMINATION CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    1. Turn the ignition off to the lock position.
    2. Disconnect the Shift Lever Assembly harness connector.
      NOTE: Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.
    3. Measure the resistance between ground and the Illumination circuit.

      Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Go to step  3
  3. CHECK THE TERM 58D ILLUMINATION CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN 
    1. Disconnect the Instrument Cluster harness connector.
    2. Check the resistance of the Illumination circuit between the Shift Lever Assembly harness connector and the Instrument Cluster harness connector.

      Is resistance above 100k ohms?

      Yes 

      No
