Diagnostic Test

  1. 1) Check for Current DTCs 

    Turn the ignition on.

    With the scan tool, read and record the Central Locking Pump DTCs.

    Are any Central Locking Pump CAN Communication DTC's set? 

    Yes 

    1. Perform the Central Locking Pump CAN Communication DTC's Diagnostics.
    2. Perform POWER TOP VERIFICATION TEST .

    No 

    1. Go to  2).
  2. 2) Open CAN B Bus (+) circuit

    Turn the ignition off.

    Disconnect the Power Top Control Module (PTCM) C1 harness connector.

    Disconnect the BCM harness connector.

    NOTE: Check connectors - Clean/repair as necessary.

    Measure the resistance of the CAN B Bus (+) circuit from the PTCM C1 harness connector to the BCM harness connector.

    Is the resistance below 5.0 ohm? 

    Yes 

    1. Go to  3).

    No 

    1. Repair the PTCM CAN B Bus (+) circuit for an open.
    2. Perform POWER TOP VERIFICATION TEST .
  3. 3) Open CAN B Bus (-) circuit

    With the ignition off.

    Measure the resistance of the CAN B Bus (-) circuit from the PTCM C1 harness connector to the BCM harness connector.

    Is the resistance below 5.0 ohm? 

    Yes 

    1. Replace the Power Top Control Module. Refer to REMOVAL .
    2. Perform POWER TOP VERIFICATION TEST .

    No 

    1. Repair the PTCM CAN B Bus (-) circuit for an open.
    2. Perform POWER TOP VERIFICATION TEST .
