Stabilizer Bar: Removal: Notes

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. (Refer to LUBRICATION & MAINTENANCE/HOISTING - STANDARD PROCEDURE) .
  2. Remove both rear wheel and tire assemblies. (Refer to TIRES/WHEELS - REMOVAL)
  3. On each side of the vehicle, remove the nut attaching the stabilizer bar link and bushings to the stabilizer bar at the lateral link. See Fig 1.

    1 - PARK BRAKE CABLE
    2 - STABILIZER BAR ATTACHING LINK
    3 - NUT
    4 - STABILIZER BAR
    5 - REAR LATERAL LINK
    6 - FORWARD LATERAL LINK
  4. Remove the four bolts attaching the stabilizer bar bushing retainers to the rear suspension crossmember. See Fig 2. Remove the retainers.

    3 - ATTACHING BOLT
    4 - ATTACHING BOLT
    5 - REAR STABILIZER BAR
    6 - STABILIZER BAR ATTACHING BRACKETS
    7 - ATTACHING BOLT
  5. Remove the rear stabilizer bar bushings from the stabilizer bar.
  6. Remove the stabilizer bar from the vehicle. Remove the bar through the opening between the exhaust pipe and the rear suspension crossmember.
