1 - UPPER RADIATOR CLOSURE PANEL
2 - CENTER BRACE
WARNING: Do not open the radiator draincock with the system hot and under pressure because serious burns from coolant can occur.
NOTE: The fan motor, fan, and the shroud are serviced as an assembly.
  1. Disconnect negative cable from battery.
  2. Remove battery and battery tray, (Refer to ELECTRICAL/BATTERY SYSTEM/BATTERY - REMOVAL) .
  3. Drain cooling system below upper radiator hose level, (Refer to COOLING/ENGINE/COOLANT - STANDARD PROCEDURE) .
  4. Remove grill, (Refer to BODY/EXTERIOR/GRILLE - REMOVAL) .
  5. Remove upper radiator closure panel (1) and center brace (2). See Fig 1. (Refer to BODY/EXTERIOR/RADIATOR CLOSURE PANEL - REMOVAL) .

  6. Disconnect upper radiator hose from radiator.
  7. Turbocharger equipped vehicles:  Remove radiator inlet neck (2). See Fig 2.
  8. Hoist vehicle.

  9. Disconnect radiator fan electrical connector (1). See Fig 3.

    3 - SCREWS
  10. Remove the two lower and left side radiator fan screws (2, 3). See Fig 4.
  11. Lower vehicle and remove the remaining radiator fan attaching screws.

    4 - CHARGE AIR COOLER
    CAUTION: Care should be taken not to damage the radiator cooling fins and tubes during fan removal.
  12. Remove radiator fan by lifting up from the engine compartment.
