Charging System: Generator: Removal: 1.6L

Release the fuel pressure, refer to the STANDARD PROCEDURE - FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE PROCEDURE .
Remove air cleaner assembly cover, refer to the appropriate article, (Refer to ENGINE/AIR INTAKE SYSTEM/AIR CLEANER ELEMENT - REMOVAL) or (Refer to ENGINE/AIR INTAKE SYSTEM/AIR CLEANER ELEMENT - REMOVAL) .
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Disconnect the electrical connectors from the fuel injectors.
Remove the wiring harness from the fuel rail brackets.
Remove the fuel line from the fuel rail.
Remove the 2 bolts to the fuel rail at the lower manifold.
Remove the fuel rail, (Refer to FUEL SYSTEM/FUEL DELIVERY/FUEL RAIL - REMOVAL) .
Remove the lower intake manifold, refer to the appropriate article, (Refer to ENGINE/MANIFOLDS/INTAKE MANIFOLD - REMOVAL) or (Refer to ENGINE/MANIFOLDS/INTAKE MANIFOLD - REMOVAL) .

Disconnect the electrical connectors from the generator. See Fig 1.

Remove the power steering reservoir from the support bracket. See Fig 2.
Loosen the lower inboard generator mounting bolt.

Raise vehicle and support.
Remove the right splash shield. See Fig 3.

Remove the accessory drive belt. See Fig 4, (Refer to COOLING/ACCESSORY DRIVE/DRIVE BELTS - REMOVAL) .
Loosen the lower outboard generator mounting bolt.
Lower vehicle.

Remove the 2 upper mounting bolts.
Remove the generator. See Fig 5.
