Charging System: Generator: Removal: 1.6L
- Release the fuel pressure, refer to the STANDARD PROCEDURE - FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE PROCEDURE .
- Remove air cleaner assembly cover, refer to the appropriate article, (Refer to ENGINE/AIR INTAKE SYSTEM/AIR CLEANER ELEMENT - REMOVAL) or (Refer to ENGINE/AIR INTAKE SYSTEM/AIR CLEANER ELEMENT - REMOVAL) .
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors from the fuel injectors.
- Remove the wiring harness from the fuel rail brackets.
- Remove the fuel line from the fuel rail.
- Remove the 2 bolts to the fuel rail at the lower manifold.
- Remove the fuel rail, (Refer to FUEL SYSTEM/FUEL DELIVERY/FUEL RAIL - REMOVAL) .
- Remove the lower intake manifold, refer to the appropriate article, (Refer to ENGINE/MANIFOLDS/INTAKE MANIFOLD - REMOVAL) or (Refer to ENGINE/MANIFOLDS/INTAKE MANIFOLD - REMOVAL) .
- Disconnect the electrical connectors from the generator. See Fig 1.
- Remove the power steering reservoir from the support bracket. See Fig 2.
- Loosen the lower inboard generator mounting bolt.
- Raise vehicle and support.
- Remove the right splash shield. See Fig 3.
- Remove the accessory drive belt. See Fig 4, (Refer to COOLING/ACCESSORY DRIVE/DRIVE BELTS - REMOVAL) .
- Loosen the lower outboard generator mounting bolt.
- Lower vehicle.
- Remove the 2 upper mounting bolts.
- Remove the generator. See Fig 5.
