Sensor-Rear Wheel Speed: Installation

CAUTION: Failure to install speed sensor cables properly may result in contact with moving parts or an over extension of cables causing an open circuit. Be sure that cables are installed, routed, and clipped properly.

  1. Insert the wheel speed sensor (2) head into the disc brake adapter (1) or drum brake support plate.
  2. Install the mounting screw (3) securing the wheel speed sensor in place. Tighten the mounting screw to 12 N.m (105 in. lbs.).

  3. Install the routing clips (2) securing the wheel speed sensor to the axle (1) and its trailing arm (3).

  4. Install wheel speed sensor cable (2) into the routing clips (4) on the brake hose.
  5. Install the speed sensor cable grommet into the retainer on the brake hose bracket (5).

  6. Install the speed sensor cable routing clips (3) on the brake tube (6).
  7. Connect the wheel speed sensor cable (5) connector at the body wiring harness (1).
  8. Install the wheel speed sensor cable connector into the routing clip (2) mounting it to the vehicle's body (4).
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Perform the Diagnostic Verification Test and clear any faults. (Refer to BRAKES - STANDARD PROCEDURE - ABS VERIFICATION TEST)
