Fuel Rail: Removal: 3.8L
- Release fuel pressure, refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE PROCEDURE .
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove air cleaner housing and inlet hose.
- Remove engine cover.
- Disconnect the Throttle Position Sensor. See Fig 1.
1 - Purge Line 2 - Throttle Position Sensor 3 - Idle Air Control Motor - Disconnect the Idle Air Control.
- Disconnect the purge line.
- Disconnect the throttle and speed control cables (if equipped).
- Unlock and disconnect the MAP sensor. See Fig 2.
1 - MAP Sensor 2 - Vacuum Lines - Disconnect the vacuum lines.
- Remove the EGR tube, refer to (Refer to EMISSIONS CONTROL/EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION/TUBE - REMOVAL) .
- Remove the upper intake manifold. See Fig 3, and INTAKE MANIFOLD - UPPER .
- Fuel Rail, wiring harness and injectors. See Fig 4.
- Injector and electrical connector. See Fig 5.
- If the injector connectors are not tagged with their cylinder number, tag them to identify the correct cylinder. See Fig 6.
- Remove the 4 mounting bolts from the fuel rail. See Fig 7.
- Disconnect the fuel supply line from the fuel rail. See Fig 8.
- Lift fuel rail straight up off of cylinder head. See Fig 9.
- Remove retaining clips from fuel injectors at fuel rail. See Fig 10.
- Remove fuel injector from fuel rail. See Fig 11.
