Removal - 2.2 Diesel

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the front grill, refer to INTERIOR/EXTERIOR for more information.
  3. Remove the hood seal, refer to INTERIOR/EXTERIOR for more information.
  4. Remove the upper radiator crossmember.
  5. Remove ambient temperature sensor.
  6. Raise vehicle and support.
  7. Drain radiator, refer to COOLING for more information.
  8. Disconnect the electrical connector for the radiator fan.
  9. Remove A/C refrigerant. Refer to HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING for more information.
  10. Remove the underbody plate (skid plate), refer to INTERIOR/EXTERIOR for more information.
  11. Remove the lower radiator hose and the 2 inner cooler hoses.
  12. Remove the right front tire.
  13. Remove the splash shield.
  14. Remove the accessory drive belt, refer to COOLING for more information.
  15. Lower vehicle.
  16. Disconnect the A/C lines from the condenser and plug and cap.
  17. Remove the upper radiator hose.
  18. Remove the radiator, condenser, and inner cooler assembly
  19. Loosen the 2 lower mounting bolts for the generator and remove the accessory drive idler pulley and bracket. See Fig 1.

  20. Disconnect the wiring connectors from the back of the generator. See Fig 2.

    NOTE: The orientation of the generator, it will fit onto the bracket backwards. If this occurs damage to the generator will happen.
  21. Remove the A/C line from the compressor.
  22. Remove the 2 upper bolts and the 2 lower bolts and remove generator as assembly.
