Section 139 (Power Liftgate System): Latch: Removal

- Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
- Open the liftgate and remove the liftgate trim panel, (Refer to BODY/DECKLID/HATCH/LIFTGATE/TAILGATE/TRIM PANEL - REMOVAL) .
- Disconnect the power latch electrical connector. See Fig 1.
1 - LATCH & ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY 2 - LATCH ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR 3 - LOCK CYLINDER LINK ROD 4 - LIFTGATE LOCK CYLINDER - Remove the power latch retaining bolts.
- Disconnect the liftgate lock cylinder link rod from the key cylinder or latch assembly. To disconnect from latch, rotate the plastic retaining clip 90 degrees to unsnap clip from link rod. Then pull link rod straight out of latch arm. See Fig 1.
- Remove the power latch from the vehicle.
