Compass/Mini-Trip Computer: Notes
The Compass/Mini-Trip Computer (CMTC), which is located in the overhead console, supplements the standard vehicle instrumentation. The CMTC uses the Electronic Vehicle Information Center's (EVIC's) vacuum fluorescent (VF) display to supply the vehicle operator with:
- Compass heading.
- Average fuel economy.
- Distance to empty.
- Tire pressure (if equipped with TPM).
The Overhead Console is also available with:
- An optional integrated Universal Garage Door Opener (UGDO) known as HomeLink®.
- The three UGDO buttons are labeled with dots to indicate the channel number.
- An optional Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPM) System.
- Two optional sunroof switches (OPEN/CLOSE and VENT).
- A standard Liftgate switch.
The CMTC sends and receives data over the PCI bus, communicating with the:
- Body Control Module (BCM).
- The BCM supplies most of the information that the CMTC processes and that the EVIC displays.
- Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
- The PCM supplies ambient temperature sensor information.
- Integrated Power Module (IPM).
- EVIC (Early Build Vehicles Only).
- The EVIC receives all display requests, except for the internal compass function, over the PCI bus.
The CMTC receives Tire Pressure Monitoring System information via radio transmissions. The tire pressure sensors are mounted to the vehicle wheels. For complete information, refer to TIRES/WHEELS & TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM .
