Transmission Oil Cooler: Installation

For in-tank transmission oil cooler installation (Refer to RADIATOR ).

For external trans oil cooler installation, perform the following procedures:

  1. Remove the bolts attaching the A/C condenser to the radiator (Fig 1 ).

  2. Lift A/C condenser up to disengage from upper retainers on radiator.
  3. Reposition, the A/C condenser to allow access to condenser rear surface.
  4. Remove the previously cut-off cooler retaining straps.
  5. Position and install the new retaining straps in the same locations on the condenser.
  6. Reposition A/C condenser on the radiator upper retainers.
  7. Install the A/C condenser mounting bolts and tighten to 5 N.m (45 in.lbs.) (Fig 1 ).
  8. Install the foam pads on the retaining straps
  9. Position the transmission oil cooler on A/C condenser by guiding the retaining straps through the cooler mounting holes (Figure ).
  10. Position the external cooler lines to the side of radiator. Install support bracket and screw (Fig 2 ).

  11. Install the retaining strap locks and tighten to secure the cooler to the condenser. Trim off the excess strap material.
  12. Connect the cooler hoses to cooler lines and tighten hose clamps to 3 N.m (28 in.lbs.).
  13. Install radiator side air shields.
  14. Install the front fascia (Refer to FRONT FASCIA ).
  15. Install the front wheels
  16. Install the radiator upper support (Refer to GRILLE OPENING REINFORCEMENT ).
  17. Connect negative cable to remote jumper terminal.
  18. Start engine and check transmission oil level. Adjust level as necessary.
