Transmission Oil Cooler: Installation
For in-tank transmission oil cooler installation (Refer to RADIATOR ).
For external trans oil cooler installation, perform the following procedures:
- Remove the bolts attaching the A/C condenser to the radiator (Fig 1 ).
- Lift A/C condenser up to disengage from upper retainers on radiator.
- Reposition, the A/C condenser to allow access to condenser rear surface.
- Remove the previously cut-off cooler retaining straps.
- Position and install the new retaining straps in the same locations on the condenser.
- Reposition A/C condenser on the radiator upper retainers.
- Install the A/C condenser mounting bolts and tighten to 5 N.m (45 in.lbs.) (Fig 1 ).
- Install the foam pads on the retaining straps
- Position the transmission oil cooler on A/C condenser by guiding the retaining straps through the cooler mounting holes (Figure ).
- Position the external cooler lines to the side of radiator. Install support bracket and screw (Fig 2 ).
- Install the retaining strap locks and tighten to secure the cooler to the condenser. Trim off the excess strap material.
- Connect the cooler hoses to cooler lines and tighten hose clamps to 3 N.m (28 in.lbs.).
- Install radiator side air shields.
- Install the front fascia (Refer to FRONT FASCIA ).
- Install the front wheels
- Install the radiator upper support (Refer to GRILLE OPENING REINFORCEMENT ).
- Connect negative cable to remote jumper terminal.
- Start engine and check transmission oil level. Adjust level as necessary.
