Coil Spring: Removal
- With the vehicle resting on its wheels remove the shock absorber upper nut. See Fig 1 . Remove the washer and rubber mount.
- Raise and support the vehicle, then remove the shock absorber lower bolt and nut. See Fig 2 . Remove the shock absorber from the vehicle.
- Support the lower control arm with a floor jack. Raise the lower control arm up until it is almost level.
- Using Spring Compressor (9151) and Clamping Plates (9152), carefully compress the front spring. See Fig 3 .
- Remove the nuts from the lower control arm mounting bolts. See Fig 4 .
- Carefully remove the lower control arm mounting bolts from the body.
- Lower the floor jack and swing the lower control arm down while holding the front spring. When enough clearance has been achieved from the lower control arm and the upper spring perch, remove the front spring from the vehicle.
WARNING:
Only use approved clamping devices and if appropriate, screen off the danger area. Inspect special tools for damage and function. Wear safety gloves and eye protection. Risk of injury exists from hands and fingers being trapped or crushed when working on preloaded springs or spring bodies.
