Water Pump: Removal

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain the cooling system. See DRAINING COOLING SYSTEM .
  3. Remove the air cleaner.
  4. Remove the radiator fan. See RADIATOR FAN .
  5. Remove the accessory drive belt. See DRIVE BELT .
  6. Remove the belt tensioner. See BELT TENSIONER .
  7. Disconnect the lower radiator (2) hose and the coolant bypass hose (1).

  8. Remove the water pump pulley (2) and the idler pulley (1).

  9. Remove the water pump retaining bolts and water pump.
