Timing Control

Timing is controlled by ECM (M/T) or PCM (A/T) and cannot be adjusted. Do not rotate distributor to adjust timing. To check timing, using scan tool, perform actuator test No. 17: BASIC IGNITION TIMING. See ACTUATOR TESTS  under COMPUTERIZED ENGINE CONTROLS. If timing is not within specification, check for abnormal sensor disk or sensor face making contact with trigger wheel. Repair or replace as necessary.
