Ignition Timing

Ignition timing is controlled by Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and is nonadjustable. Check timing using scan tool and perform actuator test No. 17 (BASIC IGNITION TIMING). See ACTUATOR TESTS in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING - SEBRING COUPE & STRATUS COUPE - 2.4L article or ACTUATOR TESTS in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING - SEBRING COUPE & STRATUS COUPE - 3.0L article. On models with distributor (3.0L), DO NOT attempt to adjust ignition timing by rotating distributor. For distributor installation, see DISTRIBUTOR under IGNITION SYSTEMS in appropriate REMOVAL & INSTALLATION article.
