Overhead Right/Left Switches Short

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, record and erase DTCs. Turn ignition off. Wait approximately 10 seconds. Turn ignition on. Operate power sliding door from overhead switch. Recheck for DTCs. If OVERHEAD RIGHT/LEFT SWITCHES SHORT resets, go to next step. If OVERHEAD RIGHT/LEFT SWITCHES SHORT does not reset, system is operating properly at this time. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits.
  2. Carefully remove and disconnect overhead switch connector. Using scan tool, erase DTCs. Turn ignition off. Wait approximately 10 seconds. Turn ignition on. Wait approximately 10 more seconds. Recheck for DTCs. If OVERHEAD SWITCH NO. 2 SHORT does not set or OVERHEAD RIGHT/LEFT SWITCHES SHORT does not reset, go to next step. If OVERHEAD SWITCH NO. 2 SHORT sets or OVERHEAD RIGHT/LEFT SWITCHES SHORT resets, replace overhead switch.
  3. Locate and disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C3. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS . See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and BCM connector C3 terminal No. 1 (Violet/Dark Blue wire). If resistance is 100 ohms or less, repair short to ground in Violet/Dark Blue wire. If resistance is greater than 100 ohms, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
