Electric Cooling Fans: Description
Vehicle uses 2 separate electric cooling fans: one for radiator cooling and one for transmission cooling. The radiator cooling fan is an integral component of radiator cooling fan module. Radiator cooling fan module consists of a single cooling fan with 2-speed electric motor supported by a 1-piece shroud. The radiator cooling fan module is secured to radiator.
The transmission oil cooling fan is an integral component of transmission oil cooling fan module. Transmission oil cooling fan module consists of single speed "pusher" fan with electric motor attached to oil cooler support bracket. The transmission oil cooling fan module is mounted on front of rear frame crossmember. See Fig 1 .
Both cooling fans are controlled by Powertrain Control Module (PCM) through control relays located in power distribution center. Power distribution center is located at left front corner of engine compartment.
