Section 2 (Charging System - Generators & Regulators): Description

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 11 other vehicles, including the 2001 Plymouth Neon, 2001 Dodge Stratus, 2001 Dodge Neon, 2001 Dodge Intrepid, and 2001 Chrysler Sebring. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Generator contains a rotor, stator, rectifiers, front and rear covers and drive pulley. PT Cruiser generator is a "Y" type stator with a 3 phase winding connections to deliver induced AC current to 3 positive and 3 negative diodes for rectification. On all models, generator is serviced as a complete unit only. Voltage regulation is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Electronic Voltage Regulator (EVR) is not a separate component, but a circuit located within PCM. If EVR circuit is defective, PCM must be replaced.
