Testing

  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect White 18-pin Central Timer Module (CTM) harness connector C2. Disconnect suspect door ajar switch harness connector. Using a DVOM, measure resistance of Yellow wire between suspect door ajar switch harness connector and CTM harness connector C2 terminal No. 2. See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open or high resistance in Yellow wire.
  2. Remove headlight switch. See HEADLIGHT SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect headlight switch harness connectors. Turn ignition on. Connect fused jumper wire between ground and CTM harness connector C2 terminal No. 2. If courtesy/dome lights illuminate, go to next step. If courtesy/dome lights do not illuminate, repair open or high resistance in Yellow wire between suspect door ajar switch harness connector and CTM harness connector C2 terminal No. 2.
  3. Remove and disconnect suspect door ajar switch harness connector. Ensure door ajar switch plunger is extended. Using a DVOM, measure resistance between door ajar switch body and door ajar switch harness connector terminal. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace door ajar switch. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, problem is intermittent.
