Courtesy/Dome Lights Inoperative From Driver's Side Door Only

Possible Causes:

Driver Door Ajar Switch Ground Circuit Open
Driver Door Ajar Switch Sense Circuit Open
Driver Door Ajar Switch Open
CTM Chime Inoperative With Headlamps On And Driver Door Open

Testing

Disconnect driver-side door ajar switch harness connector. Using a DVOM, measure resistance between ground and driver-side door ajar switch harness connector Black wire terminal. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open or high resistance in Black wire between ground and driver-side door ajar switch harness connector.
Access and disconnect driver-side door latch harness connector(s). Disconnect Green 14-pin Central Timer Module (CTM) harness connector C1. Using a DVOM, measure resistance of Black/White wire between driver-side door latch harness connector and CTM harness connector C1 terminal No. 1. See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open or high resistance in Black/White wire circuit.
Connect CTM connector C1. Connect fused jumper wire between ground and driver-side door latch harness connector Black/White wire terminal. Connect scan tool to 16-pin Data Link Connector (DLC), located under left side of instrument panel. Using scan tool, read DR DOOR AJAR SW status. If scan tool displays DR DOOR AJAR SW: CLOSED, replace driver-side door latch assembly. If scan tool does not display DR DOOR AJAR SW: CLOSED, replace CTM.
