Testing
- Turn ignition off. Gain access to rear of EMIC. See ELECTRO-MECHANICAL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove and inspect suspect bulb and socket. Repair or replace defective bulb or socket as necessary. If bulb and socket are okay, go to next step.
- Using EMIC wiring diagram as a guide, determine which circuit provides power or ground for inoperative bulb. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL. Using a DVOM, measure appropriate power and ground circuit. If circuit is okay, replace EMIC. If power or ground is not available at appropriate circuit, repair open circuit. Then perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
