Electro-Mechanical Instrument Cluster
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Dodge Ram Wagon, 2002 Dodge Ram Van, 2001 Dodge Ram Wagon, and 2001 Dodge Ram Van. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Electro-Mechanical Instrument Cluster (EMIC) includes a speedometer, fuel gauge, oil pressure gauge, water temperature gauge, voltmeter, Vacuum Fluorescent display (VFD) and a series of warning lights. EMIC module communicates with other modules through CCD bus circuit. See CCD BUS CIRCUIT .
Powertrain Control Module (PCM) sends signals necessary for cluster to position gauges. Cluster receives these messages through CCD bus and translates them into gauge positions. Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) status is sent to PCM over CCD bus circuit. VFD odometer/trip display works when ignition switch is in RUN or START positions. If CCD bus is not functioning, odometer will display dashes instead of mileage digits.
