Solenoid Assembly

NOTE: Solenoid assembly may also be referred to as solenoid pack.

Solenoid assembly is controlled by PCM. PCM provides voltage to transmission control relay, causing contacts to close which supplies voltage to solenoid assembly. Solenoid assembly, consisting of 4 electric solenoids, controls transaxle hydraulic circuits. PCM completes the ground circuit, operating solenoid for proper hydraulic circuit control.

Low-Reverse (L-R), Overdrive (OD) and 2-4 pressure switches are located in solenoid assembly. Pressure switches are monitored by PCM to indicate if pressure is present in a specified hydraulic circuit. Pressure switches must operate in correct status with each gear. See PRESSURE SWITCH OPERATION  table. PCM uses this information to verify solenoid assembly operation and to determine what gear transaxle is in.
