Removal (3.5L)
- The EGR pipe attaches to the bottom of the upper intake manifold next to the throttle body. See Figure. Disconnect negative battery cable at remote battery terminal on passenger's side strut tower. Remove air inlet tube and resonator.
- Remove EGR pipe mounting clips at intake manifold plenum. See Figure. Loosen transmission to throttle body bracket. Remove 2 nuts and 1 bolt and remove bracket off of studs. Remove EGR pipe mounting screws at EGR valve.
- Remove EGR upper pipe assembly being careful not to drop the silicone rubber seals in the intake manifold. Clean gasket surfaces on the EGR valve. Note that any loose dirt can lodge between the pintle and the seat and cause valve leakage that will give a rough idle and depressed manifold vacuum.
