Self-Diagnostic System: Notes
Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) are stored in Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB) memory. CAB can store more than one DTC at a time and will display number of ignition cycles since most recent DTC was stored. CAB will retain DTCs with ignition off or if battery is disconnected. DTCs are cleared using scan tool.
DTCs detected by CAB can be latching or non-latching. Latched DTCs will disable ABS function until ignition is cycled. Non-latching DTCs occur when system fault is actually occurring, causing warning light(s) to illuminate. Warning light is turned off when system fault goes away; however, in most cases a DTC will set.
