Anti-Lock Brake System - TEVES Mark 20: Description
The Teves Mark 20 Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) prevents wheel lock-up during heavy braking conditions, allowing driver to maintain vehicle directional stability. The 4-channel system components include ABS fluid accumulators, ABS fuse, Amber ABS warning light, Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB), Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU), hydraulic pump, inlet valves and solenoids, outlet valves and solenoids, Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) in place of proportioning valves, pump and motor assembly, Red BRAKE warning light, traction control switch (if equipped) and Wheel Speed Sensors (WSS).
The Teves Mark 20 system uses a diagonal-split, hydraulic brake system. The system primary circuit controls right front and left rear wheels. Secondary circuit controls left front and right rear wheels.
The Teves Mark 20 ABS may be equipped with a Traction Control System (TCS) which prevents front wheel slippage during fast acceleration at speeds less than 35 MPH. TCS reduces wheel slip by braking the wheel that is losing traction. Models with TCS use a traction control switch mounted on upper right trim bezel. A traction control warning (TRAC OFF) light is located on instrument cluster. During a traction control event, only the TRAC portion of TRAC OFF light will illuminate.
