Incomplete Power Open - Missing Hall Signal
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST
under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Using scan tool, record and erase DTCs. Turn ignition off. Wait 10 seconds. Turn ignition on. Operate power sliding door several times if possible. Recheck for DTCs. If INCOMPLETE POWER OPEN - MISSING HALL SIGNAL resets, go to next step. If INCOMPLETE POWER OPEN - MISSING HALL SIGNAL does not reset, system is operating properly at this time. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits.
- Visually inspect sliding door for proper alignment, damaged strikers, damaged latches or obstructions. Repair as necessary. If possible, check operation of sliding door on a known-good vehicle. If sliding door effort is excessive, diagnose power sliding door. See TROUBLE SHOOTING in POWER SLIDING DOORS & LIFTGATE - CARAVAN, TOWN & COUNTRY, & VOYAGER article. If sliding door effort is not excessive, go to next step.
- With sliding door open, place an object in sliding door closing path and close sliding door. If sliding door reverses direction from close to open when sliding door makes contact with object, go to next step. If sliding door does not reverse direction from close to open when sliding door makes contact with object, replace Power Sliding Door Module (PSDM). See POWER SLIDING DOOR MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Access and disconnect sliding door motor connector. See Figure . To access connector, door panel will need to be removed. See POWER SLIDING DOOR MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using a test light connected to battery voltage, probe sliding door motor connector terminal No. 7 (Black/Tan wire). See Figure . If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, repair open in Black/Tan wire between sliding door motor and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS in POWER SLIDING DOORS & LIFTGATE - CARAVAN, TOWN & COUNTRY, & VOYAGER article.
- Disconnect PSDM connector C2. See Figure . Using DVOM, measure resistance of Tan/Violet wire between sliding door motor connector terminal No. 2 and PSDM connector C2 terminal No. 1. See Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Tan/Violet wire.
- Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and PSDM connector C2 terminal No. 1 (Tan/Violet wire). If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair short to ground in Tan/Violet wire.
- Using DVOM, measure resistance of Tan/Yellow wire between sliding door motor connector terminal No. 8 and PSDM connector C2 terminal No. 17. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Tan/Yellow wire.
- Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and PSDM connector C2 terminal No. 17 (Tan/Yellow wire). If resistance is greater than 100 ohms, replace sliding door motor assembly. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in POWER SLIDING DOORS & LIFTGATE - CARAVAN, TOWN & COUNTRY, & VOYAGER article. If resistance is 100 ohms or less, repair short to ground in Tan/Yellow wire.
