Left Low Beam Headlight Circuit Shorted To Ground

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear all Front Control Module (FCM) DTCs. Turn headlights on and cycle headlights between high and low beams several times, pausing at least 5 seconds between each position. Recheck for DTCs. If LEFT LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND resets, go to next step. If LEFT LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND does not reset, conditions necessary to set this DTC are not present at this time. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits and repair as necessary.
  2. Turn ignition off. Remove left headlight assembly and disconnect left headlight connector. Remove FCM from Intelligent Power Module (IPM). See FRONT CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and left headlight connector terminal No. 1 (White/Dark Blue wire). If resistance is greater than 100 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 100 ohms or less, repair short to ground in White/Dark Blue wire between FCM and left headlight.
  3. Reconnect FCM. Replace left headlight bulb with a known-good bulb. Turn ignition on. Turn headlights on and cycle headlights between high and low beams several times, pausing at least 5 seconds between each position. Monitor FCM DTCs on scan tool. If LEFT LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND resets, go to next step. If LEFT LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND does not reset, replace left headlight bulb.
  4. Check for poor connections or faulty circuits for left low beam headlight. Repair as necessary. If connectors and circuits are okay, replace FCM.
