Cruise Control Systems: Description
The speed (cruise) control system is electronically controlled and vacuum operated. The electronic control is integrated into Powertrain Control Module (PCM) located next to battery in engine compartment. System consists of the following components: PCM, speed control servo, speed control switches, vacuum reservoir, vehicle speed input, speed control relay and brake switch.
Speed control system controls are located on each side of steering wheel air bag module and consist of ON/OFF, SET, RESUME, CANCEL, ACCEL and DECEL switches. When system is on, CRUISE indicator of instrument cluster will illuminate. System is designed to operate at 30-85 MPH.
