Body Verification Test

NOTE: If PCM is replaced, unique Secret Key Data must be transferred from Sentry Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM) to Powertrain Control Module (PCM). SKIM must be in secured access mode. Secured access mode is not required to check programmed status of key.
  1. Reconnect all previously disconnected components and wiring. Remove all jumper wires.
  2. If SKIM was replaced, go to step  11 . If SKIM was not replaced, go to next step.
  3. If Body Control Module (BCM) was replaced, ignition must be turned on for 15 seconds to learn VIN or engine will not start. Using scan tool, program all Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitters.
  4. Using scan tool, recalibrate HVAC doors.
  5. If vehicle is equipped with Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS), use scan tool to select MISCELLANEOUS and ENABLE VTSS.
  6. If any repairs were made to HVAC system or battery was disconnected, use scan tool to recalibrate HVAC doors.
  7. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, erase all DTCs.
  8. Turn ignition off and wait 5 seconds
  9. Turn ignition on. Operate previously malfunctioning component or system. If component or system operates properly, go to next step. If component or system is not operating properly, repair as necessary. See appropriate diagnostic test and repair procedure for malfunctioning component or system. See SYMPTOM IDENTIFICATION  table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  10. Using scan tool, read BCM DTCs. If no DTCs are set and complaint cannot be duplicated, testing is complete. If any DTCs are set, go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE IDENTIFICATION  table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  11. Obtain vehicle's unique PIN number assigned for SKIM.
  12. Using scan tool, select THEFT ALARM, SKIM, MISCELLANEOUS. Select SKIM MODULE REPLACED. Follow on-screen instructions.
  13. Enter secured access mode using 4-digit PIN number.
  14. Program vehicle VIN into SKIM memory.
  15. Program country code (US) into SKIM memory.
  16. SKIM module must be in secured access mode. Transfer vehicle's unique Secret Key Data from PCM to SKIM.
  17. Once secured access mode is activated, SKIM will remain in secured access mode for 60 seconds.
  18. SKIM must be in secured access mode. Program all customer's ignition keys into SKIM. SKIM will exit secured access mode after each key is programmed.
  19. If 3 attempts are made to enter secured access mode using incorrect PIN, secured access mode will be locked out for one hour. To exit locked out mode, turn ignition switch to ON position for one hour.
  20. Ensure all accessories are turned off. Connect battery charger if necessary to enable ignition switch to be on for one hour to exit locked out mode.
  21. To program sentry keys using customer programming method, see CUSTOMER LEARN METHOD  under PROGRAMMING.
  22. Turn ignition on and wait 3 minutes. Using scan tool, read SKIM DTCs.
  23. If no DTCs are set, system is operational and repair is complete. If any DTCs are set, go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE IDENTIFICATION  table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
