Low Fuel Warning Indicator Not Operating Properly
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST
under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Perform self-test on instrument cluster. Press and hold TRIP/RESET button and turn ignition on. If low fuel indicator does not turn on for 4 seconds then turn off, go to step 3 . If low fuel indicator turns on for 4 seconds then turns off, go to next step.
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC) located under left side of instrument panel. See Figure . Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, check for DTCs. If FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT INOPERATIVE is present, diagnose fuel level sending unit. See FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT INOPERATIVE . If FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT INOPERATIVE is not present, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Remove instrument cluster and inspect low fuel indicator Light Emitting Diode (LED). See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Replace low fuel indicator LED as necessary. If low fuel indicator LED is okay, replace instrument cluster.
