Low Fuel Warning Indicator Not Operating Properly

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Perform self-test on instrument cluster. Press and hold TRIP/RESET button and turn ignition on. If low fuel indicator does not turn on for 4 seconds then turn off, go to step  3 . If low fuel indicator turns on for 4 seconds then turns off, go to next step.
  2. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC) located under left side of instrument panel. See Figure . Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, check for DTCs. If FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT INOPERATIVE is present, diagnose fuel level sending unit. See FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT INOPERATIVE  . If FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT INOPERATIVE is not present, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition off. Remove instrument cluster and inspect low fuel indicator Light Emitting Diode (LED). See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Replace low fuel indicator LED as necessary. If low fuel indicator LED is okay, replace instrument cluster.
