Body Control Modules - Except Coupe: Description

WARNING: Vehicles are equipped with air bag supplemental restraint system. Before attempting ANY repairs involving steering column, instrument panel or related components, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.

Body control computer system consists of a combination of modules that communicate over a Programmable Communications Interface (PCI) data bus. Through PCI bus, information related to operation of vehicle components and circuits are relayed to appropriate system module(s). This reduces complexity of vehicle wiring and size of wiring harness.

The following body control computer systems are covered.

Body control computer fault messages are accessed through 16-pin Data Link Connector (DLC) using Chrysler's Diagnostic Readout Box (DRBIII(R)). If a generic scan tool is used, some functions listed may not be accessible. DLC is located under left side of instrument panel. See Figure .
