Right Front Sensor Circuit Failure
- Turn ignition on. Connect scan tool. Using scan tool, clear system trouble codes. Turn ignition off, and then on. Using scan tool, read system trouble codes. If scan tool displays Right Front Sensor Circuit Failure, go to next step. If scan tool does not display Right Front Sensor Circuit Failure, go to step 17.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect RF WSS connector. Measure voltage between sensor connector terminals. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to step 7.
- Inspect sensor connector for damage, or connector being disconnected. If sensor and connector are okay, go to next step. If sensor or connector are damaged, or connector was disconnected, repair or reconnect connector as necessary. Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST under DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES.
- Turn ignition off. Measure resistance between ground and either sensor terminal. If resistance is 15,000 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 15,000 ohms, replace RF WSS. Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST under DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect CAB connector. Using voltmeter in DC mode, backprobe between ground and CAB connector terminal No. 19 (White/Dark Blue wire). Reconnect CAB connector. Turn ignition on. Slowly rotate wheel while observing voltage. If voltage toggles from 1.6 volts to .08 volts while wheel rotates, go to next step. If voltage does not change during rotation of wheel, replace sensor. Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST under DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES.
- If there are not potential causes remaining, CAB is defective. Replace CAB. Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST under DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect sensor connector. Disconnect CAB connector. Connect jumper wire between ground and sensor connector White wire. Measure resistance between CAB connector terminal No. 20 (White wire) and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in White wire. Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST under DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect RF WSS connector. Disconnect CAB connector. Connect jumper between ground and sensor connector White/Dark Blue wire terminal. Measure resistance between CAB connector terminal No. 19 (White/Black wire) and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in White/Dark Blue wire. Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST under DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect RF WSS connector. Disconnect CAB connector. Measure resistance between ground and sensor connector White wire terminal. If resistance is less than 15,000 ohms, repair short to ground in White wire. Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST under DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES. If resistance is more than 15,000 ohms, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect RF WSS connector. Disconnect CAB connector. Measure resistance between ground and sensor connector White/Dark Blue wire terminal. If resistance is less than 15,000 ohms, repair short to ground in White/Dark Blue wire. Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST under DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES. If resistance is more than 15,000 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect CAB connector. Measure resistance between RF WSS connector terminals. If resistance is less than 200 ohms, repair short in wires, and replace sensor. Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST under DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES. If resistance is more than 200 ohms, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect RF WSS connector. Disconnect CAB connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and sensor connector White/Dark Blue wire terminal. If voltage is more than 1 volt, repair short to voltage in White/Dark Blue wire. Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST under DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES. If resistance is less than 1 volt, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect RF WSS connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and sensor connector White wire terminal. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace CAB. Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST under DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect RF WSS connector. Turn ignition on. Connect test light between battery power and sensor connector White/Dark Blue wire terminal. If test light is on, go to next step. If test light is not on, replace CAB. Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST under DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect RF WSS connector. Turn ignition on. Connect test light between battery power and sensor connector White wire terminal. If test light is on, replace CAB. Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST under DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES. If test light is not on, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect RF WSS connector. Turn ignition on. Connect test light between battery power and sensor connector White/Dark Blue wire terminal. If test light is on, replace CAB. Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST under DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES. If test light is not on, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Check wiring harness, and look for chafed, pierced, pinched or broken wires. Check wire connectors, and look for broken, bent, pushed out or corroded terminals. If problems were found, repair as necessary. If no problems are present, test is complete.
