Left Front Sensor Circuit Failure
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Turn ignition off, and then on. If LF WSS Circuit Failure DTC is present, go to next step. If DTC is not present, go to step 17.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect LF WSS connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage across sensor connector terminals. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to step 7.
- Turn ignition off. Check LF WSS and connector. If sensor or connector is damaged, repair as necessary. Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST under DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES. If sensor or connector is not damaged, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Measure resistance between both LF WSS terminals and ground. If resistance is less than 15,000 ohms, replace sensor. Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST under DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES. If resistance is more than 15,000 ohms, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect CAB connector. Remove harness strain relief to access wires in CAB connector. Using voltmeter in DC mode, backprobe LF WSS signal circuit (Red/Dark Blue wire). Reconnect CAB connector. Turn ignition on. Rotate wheel while observing voltmeter reading. If voltage toggles from 1.6 volts to .8 volt as wheel is rotated, go to next step. If voltage reading does not change, replace sensor. Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST under DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES.
- If there are no potential causes remaining, CAB is defective. Replace CAB. Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST under DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect LF WSS connector. Disconnect CAB connector. Connect jumper wire between sensor connector Red wire and ground. Measure resistance between CAB connector terminal No. 2 (Red wire) and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Red wire. Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST under DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect LF WSS connector. Disconnect CAB connector. Connect jumper wire between sensor connector Red/Dark Blue wire and ground. Measure resistance between CAB connector terminal No. 1 (Red/Dark Blue wire) and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair Red/Dark Blue wire. Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST under DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect LF WSS connector. Disconnect CAB connector. Measure resistance between sensor connector Red wire and ground. If resistance is less than 15,000 ohms, repair Red wire. Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST under DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES. If resistance is more than 15,000 ohms, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect LF WSS connector. Disconnect CAB connector. Measure resistance between sensor connector Red/Dark Blue wire and ground. If resistance is less than 15,000 ohms, repair Red/Dark Blue wire. Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST under DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES. If resistance is more than 15,000 ohms, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect CAB connector. Measure resistance across sensor circuits. If resistance is less than 200 ohms, repair short and replace sensor. If resistance is more than 200 ohms, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect LF WSS connector. Disconnect CAB connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and sensor connector Red/Dark Blue wire. If voltage is more than 1 volt, repair Red/Dark Blue wire and replace LF WSS. Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST under DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES. If voltage is less than 1 volt, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect LF WSS connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and sensor connector Red wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, replace CAB. Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST under DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect LF WSS connector. Turn ignition on. Connect test lamp between battery power and sensor connector Red/Dark Blue wire. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, replace CAB. Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST under DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect LF WSS connector. Turn ignition on. Connect test lamp between battery power and sensor connector Red wire. If test light illuminates, replace CAB. Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST under DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect LF WSS connector. Turn ignition on. Connect test lamp between battery power and sensor connector Red/Dark Blue wire. If test light illuminates, replace CAB. Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST under DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES. If test light does not illuminate, test is complete.
- Turn ignition off. Visually inspect wiring harness. Check for chafed, pierced, pinched or partially broken wires. Check harness connectors and broken, bent, pushed out or corroded terminals. Repair connectors and wires if necessary. Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST under DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES.
