Test 15: Controller Failure

  1. Inspect for non-factory wiring that may interfere with CAB power or ground circuits. Disconnect CAB harness connector. Inspect CAB wiring harness for incorrect routing or damage. Inspect CAB harness and component connectors for corrosion and damage. If any problems were found, repair as necessary. If no problems were found, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect CAB harness connector. Measure resistance of CAB ground circuits (Black wires) to body ground. If resistance is less than 1.0 ohm, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 1.0 ohm, repair Black wire(s) for high resistance.
  3. Disconnect CAB harness connector. Turn ignition on. Turn on all accessories. Measure voltage of ground circuit. If voltage is below 1.0 volts, go to next step. If voltage is greater than 1.0 volt, repair as necessary. Unsplice any accessories connected to CAB ground circuit. Reroute and shield any high voltage cables away from CAB ground circuit.
  4. If there are no potential causes remaining, replace CAB.
