Automatic Day/Night Inside Rearview Mirror

  1. Turn ignition switch to ON position with transmission in Park. Press AUTO button to activate dimming feature. See Figure. Cover forward facing sensor with a dark cloth to exclude any ambient light.
  2. Shine a light into rear facing sensor. Observe whether or not mirror darkens. With mirror darkened, place transmission in Reverse. Mirror should return to normal. If mirror operates as specified, system is operating correctly. If mirror does not operate as specified, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition switch to off position. Disconnect mirror connector. Using a DVOM, check voltage on mirror connector terminal No. 1 (Dark Blue/White wire) with ignition switch in RUN position. See Figure. If voltage exists, go to next step. If voltage does not exist, repair open in Dark Blue/White wire between mirror connector and junction block. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  4. Turn ignition off. Using DVOM, check for continuity between ground and mirror connector terminal No. 2 (Black/Light Green wire). If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Black/Light Green wire between mirror connector and junction block.
  5. Check voltage on mirror connector terminal No. 3 (Violet/Black wire) with transmission in Reverse. If voltage exists, replace mirror. See AUTOMATIC DAY/NIGHT INSIDE REARVIEW MIRROR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If voltage does not exist, repair open in Violet/Black wire between mirror connector and junction block.
