Wiper Erratic Operation In Intermittent Speeds
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform BODY CONTROL MODULES SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST
under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Remove wiper on/off relay from Power Distribution Center (PDC). See Figure . Substitute a known-good wiper on/off relay. Turn ignition on. Turn wipers on. If wipers operate properly, turn ignition off, and replace wiper on/off relay. If wipers do not operate properly, turn ignition off, install original wiper on/off relay, and go to next step.
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C3. Disconnect wiper motor connector. Measure resistance of wiper park switch sense circuit (Tan/Red wire) between BCM connector C3 terminal No. 3 and wiper motor connector terminal 4. See Figure and Fig 1 . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, leave connector disconnected, and go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Tan/Red wire.
- Measure resistance between ground and BCM C3 connector terminal No. 3, wiper park switch sense circuit (Tan/Red wire). If resistance is less than 100 ohms, repair short to ground in Tan/Red wire. If resistance is 100 ohms or more, leave wiper motor connector disconnected, and go to next step.
- Ensure BCM connectors are properly connected. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Monitor WIPER PARK SWITCH status while momentarily connecting a fused jumper wire between ground and wiper motor connector terminal No. 4, wiper park switch sense circuit (Tan/Red wire). If WIPER PARK SWITCH status changes when jumper wire is connected, replace wiper motor. If WIPER PARK SWITCH status does not change when jumper wire is connected, replace BCM.
