Chime Inoperative With Low Oil Pressure

  1. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, actuate chime. If chime sounds, go to next step. If chime does not sound, replace Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located with junction block under driver's side instrument panel. See Figure .
  2. If oil warning light is not illuminated, go to LOW OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT  under INFORMATION CENTER. If oil warning light is illuminated, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect oil pressure switch connector. See OIL PRESSURE SWITCH LOCATION  table. Inspect connector for damaged pins, corrosion and loose terminals. Repair connector as necessary. If connector is okay, turn ignition on. If oil warning light is illuminated, go to LOW OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT  under INFORMATION CENTER. If oil warning light is not illuminated, go to next step.
    OIL PRESSURE SWITCH LOCATION

    Engine Location
    2.4L Side Of Cylinder Block, Under Exhaust Manifold
    3.0L Next To Oil Filter
    3.3L & 3.8L Below A/C Compressor
  4. Connect one end of a jumper wire to ground. Using other end of jumper wire, backprobe oil pressure switch connector terminal. Start engine and idle for 20 seconds. Raise engine speed to 1600 RPM. If chime sounds, system is functioning properly at this time. Fault may be intermittent. If chime does not sound, replace BCM. BCM is located with junction block under driver's side instrument panel. See Figure .
