DTC P0460: Fuel Level Sending Unit No Change Over Miles

NOTE: For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  .
NOTE: Fuel level sending unit may also be referred to as fuel level sensor. Fuel tank module may also be referred to as fuel pump module. Possible causes for DTC to be set are: fuel tank obstructed, defective fuel level sending unit, or defective connectors or wiring.
  1. Turn ignition on with engine off. Using scan tool, read and record fuel level sensor voltage on scan tool. Add 2 gallons of gasoline to the fuel tank.
  2. Using scan tool, read fuel level sensor voltage again. If fuel level sensor voltage decreases by at least .2 volt, go to next step. If fuel level sensor voltage does not decrease by at least .2 volt, check for obstruction in fuel tank. If obstruction exists, repair as necessary. Perform TEST VER-2A  . If no obstruction exists, replace fuel level sending unit. Fuel level sending unit is located on fuel tank module which contains fuel pump and is located on top of fuel tank. Perform TEST VER-2A  .
  3. Turn ignition off. Inspect Dark Blue wire and connectors between fuel level sending unit and terminal No. 46 (Dark Blue wire) on Body Control Module (BCM) connector "B". BCM connector "B" is a Gray or White connector and may also be referred to as connector C2. The BCM is located behind junction block, just to left of brake pedal. See Fig 1 . If no problems exist, test is complete. Perform TEST VER-2A  . If any problems exist, repair wiring or connectors as necessary. Perform TEST VER-2A  .
