No Response From CMTC Or No Display On CMTC Except Direction & Temperature

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Disconnect Compass/Mini-Trip Computer (CMTC) 6-pin connector. CMTC is located behind overhead console. Inspect connector for damaged pins, corrosion and loose terminals. Repair connector as necessary. If connector is okay, connect one end of a jumper wire to ground. Using other end of jumper wire, backprobe terminal No. 6 (Violet/Brown wire) at CMTC connector. See Fig 1 . Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select BODY, BODY COMPUTER, then SYSTEM TEST. Perform CCD BUS test. If scan tool does not display BUS SHORT TO GROUND, repair open in Violet/Brown wire. If scan tool displays BUS SHORT TO GROUND, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect jumper wire from terminal No. 6 and reconnect jumper wire to terminal No. 1 (White/Black wire) at CMTC connector. Using scan tool, perform CCD BUS test. If scan tool does not display BUS SHORT TO GROUND, repair open in White/Black wire. If scan tool displays BUS SHORT TO GROUND, go to next step.
  3. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 4 (Brown/Pink wire) at CMTC connector. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open in Brown/Pink wire. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition off. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 3 (Black/Light Green wire) at CMTC connector. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black/Light Green wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace CMTC.
